European Commission has opened 7 calls for proposals covering a total of 34 topics and addressing a wide range of defence technologies and capabilities under the European Defence Fund. These calls will enable a number of major research projects, from Defence medical response, Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) and cyber security to space and naval combat.

This year, 69 and 50 million € will be dedicated to sensors and High-performance materials respectively, 40 million € will be allocated to research on CBRN, 25 Million € to Energy and environment and 41 million € to novel technologies for defence applications. These calls for proposals will also support SMEs and more generally innovation and disruptive technologies.
